Overview

The Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC), the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Erie and Niagara Counties, is proposing to amend the 2017-2021 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adding the following project:

Project Identification Number (PIN) 580919 –

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance on Various Routes
- Project Split and Locations Added -

Project Details

The project seeks to reconstruct curb ramps, sidewalks, and pedestrian signals to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and NYSDOT requirements for pedestrian accessibility, install or upgrade pedestrian signal equipment to meet Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and NYSDOT policies and requirements and stripe and/or re-stripe roadways where necessary (including crosswalk striping).

The original project included locations in all four counties of NYSDOT Region 5 (Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus). This request will:

  • Remove the Non-Metropolitan Planning Organization (Chautauqua and Cattaraugus) locations from PIN 580919 – These locations will get a new PIN (581341 - $0.964M);
  • Add several locations in Erie and Niagara County to the original project;
  • Add additional funding to meet cost estimates; and
  • Change the name of the project to, “ADA Compliance Work, Erie & Niagara Counties”

The updated cost for this project will be $1.232M ($1.1M Construction plus $0.132M Inspection). Fiscal constraint is maintained as the funding offset will come from the following four (4) existing projects:

  1.  PIN 581231 Large Culverts, Replacements & Repairs, Erie & Niagara Counties
  2. PIN 581304 PMI, Rt 400; Rt 20A to Jamison Rd, Towns of Aurora & Elma
  3. PIN 5T1557 State Infrastructure Renewal Block
  4. PIN 5T1636 HSIP CARDS/Ped Signal Program
