Nine (9) Harsh Winter Weather Project Additions

Public comments will be received through May 7, 2019


The Governor recently announced new State funding for renewing State roadways impacted by this year's harsh winter weather. The Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC), the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Erie and Niagara Counties, is proposing to amend the 2017-2021 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adding nine (9) new Harsh Winter Weather projects.

The projects announced for State roadways in the GBNRTC MPO area include:

Erie County ($6.08M)

  • $1.4M to resurface Route 5 from Route 324 to the Genesee County Line.

  • $1.2M to resurface Route 20 from Bowen Road to Townline Road.

  • $0.31M to resurface Route 33 from Alden/Lancaster Town line to Walden Avenue.

  • $1.0M to resurface Route 39 from Mortons Corners to Route 219.

  • $0.30M to resurface Route 240 from Holland Glenwood Road to Boston Colden Road.

  • $1.2M to resurface Route 179 from Route 5 to Abbott Road.

  • $0.67M to resurface Route 20 from California Road to Route 240.

Niagara County ($1.44M)

  • $0.55M to resurface Route 429 from North Tonawanda City line to 600 ft. south of Lockport Road.

  • $0.89 to resurface Route 425 from Upper Mountain Road to Route 93.

Fiscal constraint will be maintained as this is new funding to the region.
