NFTA State Rail Capital Funding Alignment – New Project

Overview

The Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC), the Metropolitan Planning Organization for Erie and Niagara Counties, is proposing to amend the 2017-2021 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) by adding one (1) new project.

  • PIN 582474 NFTA State Rail Capital Funding Alignment

Work will include:

  • Escalator Replacement - Replace NFTA-Metro light rail system escalators with a new design

  • Elevator Controller Replacement - Replace original elevator controllers in the 8 underground stations

  • Fastener & Pad Replacement, Phase 10 - Replace fastener and rail and repairs the supporting floating slabs

  • Station Panel Liner Replacement - Replace existing steel panels on the tunnel walls of the Rail Stations

  • Catenary & Insulator Replacement - Replace overhead contact wire and insulators on the Light Rail Rapid Transit catenary

  • Station Exterior Rehabilitation - Rehab of rail station exteriors

A total amount of $9M funding is needed for this new project. NY State will contribute 100% of this amount through State Dedicated Funds (SDF). As this is new funding to the region, fiscal constraint will be maintained.
