Regional Bicycle Master Plan Implementation Program - Call for Projects 2026
The Regional Bicycle Master Plan Implementation Program application is now available for submissions until Friday, January 30th, 2026.
The purpose of the program is to fund needed planning efforts for trail and bikeway projects that improve bicycling accessibility and safety in the Buffalo Niagara region. This effort is a continuation of the vision established in the 2020 Regional Bike Master Plan.
Municipalities are eligible for assistance including:
Technical Assistance
Preparation of preliminary concept plans. Conceptual plans may include renderings, cross sectional drawings, cost estimates, and phasing for recommended alternative(s).
Trail Project Development/Feasibility Studies
On-Road Bicycle Facility Treatment Recommendations
Intersection Improvement Recommendations
Public Outreach and Stakeholder Coordination
Assistance with outreach to residents, community groups and key stakeholders for feedback and to promote and build consensus around proposed projects.
Funding Package Development
Assistance with identifying funding opportunities, including but not limited to federal, state, and foundation grant programs. Tasks could include assistance with preparing grant proposals for bicycle infrastructure and trail projects.

Please note that assistance with selected projects will be carried out by GBNRTC and subconsultants. This program is not a financial award. Municipalities with selected projects must commit to engaging with GBNRTC and its subconsultants throughout the project period.
