Roadway All-user Crash Elimination Plan (RACE)
The GBNRTC has developed and adopted the Roadway All-User Crash Elimination Plan (RACE) to guide how the MPO region (Erie and Niagara Counties) will work to eliminate roadway fatalities and reduce serious injuries 50% for all road users including people who drive, walk, bike, or ride transit.
Sets a goal to eliminate fatal and reduce serious-injury crashes by 50% in Erie and Niagara Counties
Aims to prevent roadway deaths by addressing safer people, roads, vehicles, speeds, and post-crash care
Identifies priority locations for safety improvements
Provides a toolbox of safety treatments and countermeasures to reduce crashes.
Provides an online, GIS-based interactive safety dashboard
This Plan (SS4A Safety Action Plan) may be used by Erie and Niagara County municipalities to apply for SS4A implementation grants.

The RACE Dashboard was designed to present a visual snapshot of crash types in our region. Member agencies that need more detailed corridor or intersection analysis should contact Volney Powell (vpowell@gbnrtc.org) for information from NYSDOT’s CLEAR Crash Data Viewer system. Members of the public interested in obtaining more detailed information should submit a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request to NYSDOT using the following options:
