PIN 5766.07 Rapids Road Shoulder Widening; County Line to Route 93

New Project

The Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC) is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Erie and Niagara Counties.

NYSDOT has proposed the addition of one (1) new project to the FFY 26-30 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

Rapids Road has non-standard shoulder widths. PIN 5766.07 Rapids Road Shoulder Widening; County Line to Route 93 will reduce roadway departure crashes by providing standard width paved shoulders.

Total project cost is $7.84M. Fiscal Constraint maintained as $7.45M (federal HSIP) was awarded through NYSDOT’s RwDSAP solicitation. Erie County will provide a local match of $0.392M (5%).

Anticipated let (obligation) will be 11/11/27.

Proposed Transportation Conformity exemption: A6 - Highway Safety Improvement Program implementation.

Public comments will be received for 30 days from 3/19/26 until Close of Business (COB) on 4/20/26.
