PIN 5134.55 Big Sister Creek Remediation;
Bennett Beach - NY 5 - New Project
The Greater Buffalo-Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC) is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Erie and Niagara Counties.
NYSDOT has proposed the addition of one (1) new project to the FFY 26-30 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
This new project will investigate options to modify the Big Sister Creek channel downstream of the NY Route 5 bridge over Big Sister Creek (BIN 1001360) to provide relief for floodwater due to ice jams. Work will also need to include construction of an access road for construction and future maintenance.
Total project cost is $2.716M. Fiscal Constraint maintained as $0.150M federal funding will be transferred from PIN 5B1555 Pavement. Maintenance Block. Project will also include $0.55M 100% State Dedicated Funding (SDF) and $2.016M 100% local funds.
Anticipated let (obligation) will be 4/29.
Proposed Transportation Conformity exemption: K1. Exempt/not regionally significant through interagency consultation.
Public comments will be received for 30 days from 5/7/26 until Close of Business (COB) on 6/8/26.
